BTEC Sport (Single)
Entry Requirements
Minimum of five 9-4 grades at GCSE or equivalent. Grade C or equivalent in your chosen study subject is preferred.
Course Description
Four units of work must be completed for the Extended Certificate in Sport which is equivalent to one A Level. Three of the units are mandatory and one is optional. These may include:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being
- Professional Development in the Sports Industry
- Sports Leadership
- Application of Fitness Testing
- Sports Psychology
- Practical Sports Performance
Assessment
Assignments are assessed internally and then moderated externally in June (for two of the units) and two units are externally assessed via a written examination and a synoptic assessment; where students are required to apply learning to complete a supervised and assessed task.
Career Opportunities
On completion of a BTEC National qualification, students can progress to a BTEC Higher National or Foundation Degree programme or apply to university with other subjects achieved.
