There are a total of 58 students resitting either GCSE Maths or GCSE English across Key Stage 5, this is made up of 25 Maths candidates, 33 English candidates and including 9 candidates who completing both qualifications. The class sizes for these students has been able to be split to allow more focussed learning, encompassing two Maths classes of 12 and 13 respectively and three English classes of 15, 10 and 8. Within English the classes have also been able to be split by year group, so year 13 have the smallest class size. Where a student has a specific educational need a teaching assistant is incorporated into the lesson to support that need. Students receive two, one-hour lesson periods each week, in each subject, they are also allocated a one-hour extra study period where a dedicated sixth form extra study supervisor supports the students, to ensure students are focussed on their specific areas of improvement within the GCSE. |
