BTEC Health and Social Care (Single & Double)

Entry Requirements

Minimum of five 9-4 grades at GCSE or equivalent. Grade C or equivalent in your chosen study subject is preferred.

Course Description

The course is for students interested in learning about the health and social care sector.  The course will give students an insight into a range of health and social care areas including Human Lifespan Development; Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs; Working in Health and Social Care and Psychology perspectives.

Assessment

Four units of work must be completed for the BTEC National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care which is equivalent to one A level over two years. This consists of three mandatory units and one optional unit; optional units will be selected by teaching staff.

The BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care is equivalent to two A levels over two years. This consists of six mandatory units and two optional units.

Units are internally and externally assessed. Assessment methods include assignment, exams and synoptic research task. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria.

Career Opportunities

The courses can be used to give UCAS points for university entrance. Careers it may lead to amongst others are: Social Work, Health Care, Elderly Care, and Child Care.
