Further Mathematics
Entry Requirements
'Minimum of 5, 9 -5 Grades at GCSE or equivalent with English and maths. Grade 6 or equivalent in your chosen study subject is preferred.
Course Description
Further Pure 1, Mechanics 1 and Mechanics 2 will be assessed in June at AS level. Most students will continue onto the full A level at the end of the second year of study.
There are three modules of study in Year 12.
These are:
- Further Pure 1
- Mechanics 1
- Mechanics 2
There are three modules of study in Year 13.
These are:
- Further Pure 2
- Further Pure 4
- Mechanics 3
Assessment
Whilst it is possible to offer an AS level in certain cases, most students will continue onto the full A level at the end of the second year of study. This is by formal examination at the end of Year 13
Career Opportunities
A level Further Mathematics complements qualifications in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Pure Sciences. It is also a considered a good option for Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science.
