Catering Unit Manager

Salary: £24,635 – 29,065 actual salary pro rata (Grade 6, SCP 15-23)

Term Time PLUS 2 WEEKS (inc 5 INSET Days – 40 Weeks)

37 hours a week, Monday-Friday

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Catering Manager, who is an enthusiastic, innovative and committed to engaging with an established team, supported by a consultancy team from CMC. We are looking for an individual who can support with ensuring flexibility with our menus, local food sourcing and the ability to offer a quality, nutritional meals that pupils will enjoy, along with an excellent service provision.

To be successful for this position you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of practical cooking on a large scale with previous experience in a similar role. This role is hands on and the emphasis will be on producing quality meals, whilst being supported on a day-to-day basis by Food preparation assistants.

The successful candidate should ideally have:

  • have relevant experience in a busy School/Academy/ or similar Catering environment.
  • have a clear understanding of all current legislation that is relevant to a large scale catering operation
  • have a good working knowledge of the requirements of the “School Food Standards” to ensure legal compliance
  • have the ability to motivate, support and inspire a team, be positive, enthusiastic and resilient
  • have highly developed inter – personal skills and ICT skills
  • be ambitious for further career development and enhancement
  • have a clear understanding of the importance of Safeguarding and equal opportunities
  • NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation or 706/1 and or 706/2 City and Guilds.
  • Level 3 Food Safety certificate.
  • Allergen legislation awareness is essential, along with knowledge of the Government Food Standards for Education.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety and Health and Safety in a kitchen is essential.

This is a vibrant, exciting and innovative mixed 11-18 Converter Academy with an overall progress score of +0.08.
