Dear Parent/Carer,
Road Safety Education Programme for Year 7 Students
We are pleased to inform you that, through funding provided by Walsall Council, we have secured a visit from the highly regarded Streetwise Safety Education Project for our Year 7 students.
The Streetwise Road Safety programme is an engaging and interactive theatre-based presentation that aims to help young people understand the importance of making safe choices when using roads and travelling independently. Through a workshop and discussion section, students will explore how distractions and risk-taking behaviours can lead to serious consequences.
What will students learn? The presentation focuses on:
- The dangers of using mobile phones, headphones, and other distractions when near roads.
- How peer pressure and "messing around" with friends can increase risks.
- The importance of remaining alert when travelling.
- Safe ways to cross roads and use pedestrian crossings.
The programme is designed to improve students' awareness, confidence, and decision-making skills, helping them to remain safe in everyday situations.
