Business Enterprise - BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2

(Pearson BTEC 603/7063/4)

Students will follow the Pearson Tech Award in Enterprise. They will begin the course in Year 9 and will complete 3 units by the end of Year 11.

The course is designed to provide learners with:

  • An understanding of Enterprise.
  • An understanding of the roles people play in enterprise.
  • An opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way.
  • Gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.

Edexcel Level 2

The BTEC Tech Award Suite is an introduction to vocational learning. The course is equivalent to 1 GCSE qualification during which students will be given the opportunity to develop a range of personal skills gaining access to a range of career and further education opportunities.

Students will use a variety of strategies throughout the course, including collecting data, interpreting data, and communicating their findings in different ways. They will work on identifying and developing the links between different aspects of the subject. There are many progression options as the skills acquired are applicable to a range of post-16 study options. The skills are in great demand and are recognised and highly valued by employers, colleges and universities.

Course Content

Component 1: Exploring Enterprises

Component 2: Planning and Presenting a Micro-Enterprise Idea

Component 3: Marketing and Finance for Enterprise

Assessment

The assessment of this course is 60% coursework (PSAs), which will be assessed internally but externally moderated. The external synoptic Marketing and Finance written exam weighting is 40% will be assessed externally.
Component 1-(60 Marks), Component 2-(60 Marks) and Component 3-(60 Marks).

Progression

The course aims to give learners the opportunity to progress to higher qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Nationals or A-levels in Enterprise/Business Studies. This qualification also prepares learners to enter any employment/Apprenticeships or move on to higher education.
